Software metering, combined with software inventory, helps your company to remain compliant to the number of software licenses you have purchased.
Software metering tracks and continually monitors the usage of software applications on your network. It controls the number of licensed copies of each application that your organization would like to track. After you enter the number of licenses that you have purchased, you can select one of several business rules to respond to the user when the numbers of licenses are exceeded.

Business Rules:
- Track software usage and set an administrative alert when licenses are exceeded.
- Track software usage and licenses but do no set alert if licenses are exceeded.
- Queue the user and send a message to the oldest queued when a license is available.
- Queue the user and send a message to the newest queued when license is available.
- Queue the user and send a message to all users when a license is available.
- Block the use of the software if licenses are exceeded.
