Resource Monitor™- The Difference

Internet Monitoring - Most Internet Monitoring products do not capture how long users are actually using the Internet.  Many just report what URLs are visited by users and how long the were on a URL.  This can be very misleading.

For example:
  • If an user has instant messaging opened on their desktop, can you find out the actual time the user is actually typing (using the software) compared to the time it resides inactive on the desktop?
  • If the user has multiple browser sessions opened on the desktop, can you obtain the actual time the browser was actually in use?
  • If the user seems to be using the email for mainly personal use, can you tell how log the email software was been used?

In addition to providing you will all the URLs visited, Resource Monitor™ will supply you with factual information to decide if your users are abusing the Internet.  Knowing the actual time, verse only where they visited, is critical information that Resource Monitor™ will provide to your organization.

Internet Monitoring - Many products force you to purchase an annual license fee for updates to a filtering and blocking database.  With Resource Monitor, there is no annual fee.

Most people will not visit improper URLs when they know they are being monitored so why purchase expensive filtering databases when they are not needed?

Resource Monitor will tell you exactly, by category, the URLs that were visited and how long they used their browser or instant messaging.  If you still need filtering or blocking, you can enable this feature within Resource Monitor.

Software Licensing - Are you paying too much for software licenses?

Resource Monitor can analyze, on a per system basis, if software is being under utilized.  By using this data, you can accurately cost justify the correct number of licenses to purchase.

According to Gartner research:

"Through 2003, enterprises that fail to integrate software usage and inventory data to manage their software assets will over-buy licenses for 60 percent of their portfolio and be out of compliance on 30 percent of their portfolio."

Software Licensing - Not being compliant with your software licenses can put you at jeopardy for fines.

You can be fined up to $250,000 per issue, be charge with possible criminal actions and incur substantial legal/in-house expenses if you are found to be non compliant.  All it takes is one disgruntled employee to report you to one of the organizations listed below.
