Limiting
Computer Usage
Flexible features that allow you to control the use of your
computer.
PCMonitor™ provides several approaches to
control the use of a computer. You can use these methods
independently or combine them to fit your needs.
Limiting computer
time by user:
This feature allows you select either a daily or weekly amount
of hours that a person can use the computer. For
example, you could limit your child's to 3 hours per day or 21
hours per week.
Limiting computer usage during the day
by user:
You can select periods during the day when a person can use
the computer. These times can be changed by mid week
hours or weekend hours. For example, your child is only
allowed to use the computer from 6pm to 9pm on Mondays thru
Fridays and from 11:00am to 10:00pm on weekends.
Limiting how long specific software can
be used by user:
This feature allows you select either a daily or weekly amount
of hours that a person can use specific software installed on
the computer. For example, you could limit your child's
to 1 hour per day to use Internet Explorer or Instant
Messaging. For more information, please review "Software
Blocking".
Limiting when software can be used
during the day by user:
You can select, by software and by user, when the software can
be used. For example, you can limit the use of Internet
Explorer or Instant Messaging to be only from 8pm to 9pm on
Mondays thru Fridays and from 11:00am to 10:00pm on weekends.
For more information, please review "Software
Blocking".
Extend computer or software time:
If you elect to display the time remaining in the systray,
only an administrator can extend the amount of time the user
can use the PC or a software application. If you are
using Windows NT, 2000 or XP, the user can temporary
pause/freeze the system until the administrator extends the
time.
